He’s revered by the masses. And now, yogic healer Swami Ramdev is finding audience in the corporate circles.

A leading industry chamber, Assocham, is hosting Ramdev to address major players from the world of biotechnology and nanotechnology on the importance of ayurveda in the modern world, sources revealed.

The spiritual guru, sources said, has been invited to address a session on Nano-Bio Ayurveda and talk about the benefits of yoga and ayurveda in improving quality of life.

“We are trying to bring together the best of Biotech and Nanotech companies, researchers, scientists, entrepreneurs and government officials to discuss and debate emerging opportunities and trends in the global biotechnology and nanotechnology industry,” Assocham secretary general DS Rawat said.

“As part of this meeting, a special session will be addressed by Swamy Ramdev on his combined knowledge of Nano-Bio Ayurveda and its benefits,” Rawat added.

If the number of confirmed attendants is a yardstick, the session is already a big hit. “Around 1,000 people from the industry and government have already confirmed participation, and we are now refusing any more applications,” said Rawat.

The session will seek to give chief executives from the biotechnology and nanotechnology industry insights about Ayurveda and its strengths, he added.

While several high profile business and political leaders are known to be among his disciples, this is the first instance of an industry body inviting the spiritual leader to address a business delegation.

“He will also tell the corporates about the benefits of physical fitness and teach them the traditional art of keeping fit. It will not be regular fitness camp, but a lecture on the benefits of practising Ayurveda and yoga,” Rawat said.

This, interestingly, comes on the heels of CPI-M leader Brinda Karat’s recent allegations that medicines produced at the yogic guru’s pharmacy contained human bone powder and animal parts.

A legal notice has already been issued to Karat charging the Left leader of “mischevious act supposed to cause great religious disturbances in country.”

Ramdev has been holding fitness camps in various states, which have been attracting people from all over the country.
