Embattled Baba Ramdev has heaved a sigh of relief after the Utaranchal Government gave him a clean chit stating that no animal parts were found in the medicines prepared by his Haridwar-based pharmacy.

Buoyed by the investigation report, Baba Ramdev, who is popularising yoga all over the country, demanded an apology from CPM leader Brinda Karat, who had caused a stir by alleging that his Haridwar-based pharmacy was using animal parts and human skulls in its ayurvedic medicines.

Following a two-month-long probe, the state Health Department said the government would also submit the final investigation report to the Centre shortly.

Stating that samples of four ayurvedic medicines of Divyayog pharmacy were probed, Health Secretary Alok Jain said New Delhi-based Shriram Industrial Research Institute had been given the task of investigating the allegations of mixing animal parts as well as human skulls in the medicines.

No animal parts

The Shriram Institute found no traces of any animal parts or human skulls, he said.

The four medicines examined included Madhunashini, Medhavati, Muktavati and Kalpabhasm, Mr Jain said. Meanwhile, the state unit of CPM has criticised the government for clearing Ramdev stating that the government only took four samples.

“Divyayog Pharmacy is making several medicines. But the state drug controller only took four samples,” CPM leader Bachi Ram Kaunswal said.

When contacted, Acharya Balkrishan, who is incharge of the Divyayog pharmacy, said the investigation report has vindicated the stand of Baba Ramdev.

“It was a conspiracy hatched by some multinational agencies to malign the Ayurveda as well as the swadeshi movement,” he said.
