Haryana is planning to introduce yoga classes in government schools across the state inspired by popular yoga guru Ramdev.
The skeleton dust controversy almost reduced to ashes, Baba Ramdev’s dream project took off today amid much fanfare. There was also a surprise gift for the new-age guru. After the Patanjali Yog Peeth was inaugurated near Hardwar, Uttaranchal chief minister N.D. Tiwari announced that he had decided to award it university status and make Ramdev its vice-chancellor for life.
The week-long "Yoga Vigyan Shivir"of Baba Ramdev concluded here on Saturday leaving behind a trail of memories for the people of the state to cherish and learn from. The conclusion of the camp left hundreds and thousands of people across the state disappointed as they were deeply immersed in the overwhelming activities at the shivir.
All roads led to Ramdev's first "Yoga Vigyan Shivir" at Gandhi Maidan here on Sunday at an unearthly hour of 4 am. The city seemed to come alive with thousands of men women and children hurrying to catch the first sight of the man who has taken the nation's imagination by storm.
Claiming that he had cured many cancer patients through yoga, Swami Ramdev today said he would come out very soon with a therapy combining herbal medicine and yoga to "tackle" AIDS. ''I may sound unrealistic. But, wait and see. I will soon come out with a treatment for AIDS through yoga and ayurveda,'' he said during a session with Bihar legislators here.
He’s revered by the masses. And now, yogic healer Swami Ramdev is finding audience in the corporate circles. A leading industry chamber, Assocham, is hosting Ramdev to address major players from the world of biotechnology and nanotechnology on the importance of ayurveda in the modern world, sources revealed.
With yoga Guru Swami Ramdev in Bihar, fitness fever seems to have gripped top politicians with several of them attending his camp as trainees. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Speaker Udai Narayan Chaudhary, and Urban Development Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, who attended the yoga camp on the opening day yesterday, sang paeans to the Baba's simple ways of teaching the traditional art of keeping fit.
